1. How do I know which garment and size I should buy?

It’s important to remember that all of our shapewear and leggings have two functions:
One is to reduce cellulite, the waistline and weight. The other is to shape your figure for a more beautiful silhouette and to help hold in excess skin/fat.

The same material is used in all styles of our Bio Promise products. The Bio-Crystals are embedded throughout the fabric and work the same way, but you should choose your style carefully, depending on what is most important to you:

If you mainly want to fight cellulite on your thighs and buttocks and reduce your thigh measurements, our leggings and Low Waist Shapewear work beautifully (they will also reduce your weight and waistline up to the navel).

If you want a garment that holds in your tummy while working to reduce your waistline, our Shapewear High Waist Panty is ideal (also reduces your weight and cellulite on the buttocks and thighs).

Choosing Your Size
If you want to buy a pair of Leggings or a Shapewear Low Waist Panty, you should generally buy the size you usually wear in trousers.

If your trouser size is one or more sizes larger than you wear in tops, our Shapewear Low Waist Panty and Leggings will usually fit best.

If you wear the same size for tops and bottoms, you can definitely wear our Shapewear High Waist Panty.

If you are in between sizes, we recommend that you buy the smaller size (so, if you are between small and medium, buy a Small).

You can also combine two garments, such as Leggings with our Shapewear High Waist Panty, to cover as much body surface as possible.

Style Guide
Every woman’s shape is unique. Our Shapewear and Leggings are stretchy and are meant to be fairly tight. But if you have somewhat wider hips and a small waist, for instance, it can be hard to get our Shapewear High Waist Panty (Bio Promise/High Waist) to stay up. In these cases, we recommend the Bio Promise/Low Waist Panty or Bio Promise Leggings.

2. Can you wear ordinary knickers or string bikini underwear underneath the garments?

You can wear ordinary knickers or string-bikini underwear and still get the same effect (the only difference is that it takes about an hour before the Bio-Crystals start working if you are wearing knickers underneath). If you wear knickers underneath, you won’t have to wash your Shapewear every day.

3. Do you have to wear the underwear continuously for eight hours?

No. The most important thing is to wear them a total of 6-8 hours a day, 6-7 days a week. The effect is usually noticeable after a week or two, but for maximum effect you should wear them as often as possible for up to 60 days. The more hours per day you wear them, the faster the effect.

4. “Fight cellulite, reduce your waistline and lose weight” sounds too good to be true. How is this possible?

Our patented nanotechnology with integrated bio-ceramic crystals* in the fabric is what actually makes our garments work. The unique thing is that when you wear our Shapewear or Leggings, your body heats the Bio-Crystals, which give off Far Infrared Rays in various frequencies. Infrared rays are totally harmless to humans and other living organisms.

These rays – invisible to the eye – stimulate the skin, improve blood flow and trigger the process that breaks down cellulite, fat and fluid pockets in the skin. The waste products are excreted by the kidneys and liver – the body’s own purification system.

The Bio-Crystals turn into Far Infrared Rays that stimulate the skin, increase oxygen availability at the skin level and improve blood flow (a prerequisite for releasing fat cells and fluid pockets). Significant for the Far Infrared Rays emitted by the Bio-Crystals is that they radiate only the object (the skin) they are next to, and not the surrounding air.

Our body-toning Scala Shapewear is the only shapewear brand that can show documented effect, reducing cellulite, weight and the waistline. In an independent university study from 2009, 80% of the women who participated noticed significant reduction of cellulite and weight and the circumference of the waist and thighs after just 30 days (download the entire study).

*Bioceramic crystals are unrelated to ceramics in the usual sense, like crockery. The crystals are produced chemically and are compounds of various oxides (chemical compounds of oxygen and one or more other elements), silicon and aluminium.

Bioceramic materials resemble the cells and building blocks of the body. Synthetic hip replacement joints used in medicine may be partly built of bioceramic material so that the body doesn’t reject the prosthesis.

The material in our garments is approved in all EU countries and certified according to the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100.

5. Do you get the same effect if you sleep in the underwear?

You can certainly sleep in the underwear. The only thing is that blood flow is lower during the night than it is in the daytime when you move around more, so you will notice the effect faster if you wear your Shapewear during the day.

6. How should I wash my Shapewear?

We recommend that you wash your garments by hand or by machine using the hand wash/delicate cycle at 30°C. The Bio-Crystals are integrated in the fabric and never wash out.

7. What do I do if I have chosen the wrong size and need to exchange my purchase?

Please contact our customer support team at support@scalabiofir.co.uk to arrange your returns shipment. We will need to know what size/colour you want, your order number and your name.

As soon as we have registered your product as received, we will send out a new product within three days.

8. What is your return policy?

Returns (for any reason) are allowed for 100 days.

9. How does your Customer Satisfaction Guarantee work?

Our unique Customer Satisfaction Guarantee means that if you are not happy with the results of your product/products, we will give you your money back. You must return the entire product/products and original packaging (but not the shipping material) for the guarantee to apply. As soon as we have registered receipt of your return, we will refund the entire purchase price of the product/products within 100 days.

10. Are your products available in high street stores?

We have no physical stores, but we are the only retailer that offers an unconditional Customer Satisfaction Guarantee in case you want to switch sizes or are unhappy with the results.

11. What size should I buy if I am between two sizes?

This varies a great deal according to the individual, but if you are in between sizes, we recommend that you buy the smaller size (so, if you are between small and medium, buy size Small).

12. How tightly should the Shapewear fit?

A certain compression against the skin is required to activate the Bio-Crystals. So, for full effect, they should be fairly tight.

13. Do you have to switch sizes when your thighs and waistline get slimmer?

Once your waistline reduces during the wearing period, it may be time to switch to a smaller size to maintain the compression against the skin. The Bio-Crystals are more effective when the garment fits tightly.

14. What are Bio-Crystals?

The Bio-Crystals – bioceramic crystals – are unrelated to ceramics in the usual sense, like crockery. The crystals are produced chemically and consist of oxides (chemical compounds between oxygen and, in this case, several other elements). The crystals in our products consist mainly of a compound of zinc, titanium and aluminium. Since the crystals are integrated into the fabric, you cannot physically feel them. The fabric simply feels like a somewhat heavier stocking knit.

Bioceramic materials resemble the cells and building blocks of the body. Synthetic hip replacement joints used in medicine may be partly built of bioceramic material so that the body doesn’t reject the prosthesis.

The microscopic crystals are knitted in and fully integrated in the fabric, so they never separate or fall out. The material in our garments is approved in all EU countries and certified according to the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100.

15. Do the products contain substances that penetrate the skin?

No particles penetrate the skin. All that happens is that blood flow increases and skin temperature rises slightly (this is because the garment works something like thermal underwear). This is comparable to massage, for instance, which also stimulates blood flow.

16. Does the effect decline when you wash your garments?

No. The Bio-Crystals, which are knitted into the garment, never separate or fall out. And since the Bio-Crystals consist of a chemical material, they are impervious to heat.

17. How long can you use the garments before they lose their effect?

The quality of our Shapewear and Leggings is so high that you can wear them for as long as you need. The Bio-Crystals are knitted into the garment and never separate or fall out, so they remain effective for as long as you choose to use them.

You should expect normal wear over time, but the main concern is how long you can keep them clean and sanitary. Naturally, they will stay clean longer if you wear knickers underneath, but then the Bio-Crystals will not reach full effectiveness until you have worn them for an hour.

18. How long does the effect last after you have worn Scala underwear for the whole period?

This varies among individuals, but as a rule you can expect the effect to last for 4-8 months if you have worn them for 60 days or longer.

19. Can pregnant women wear Scala underwear?

No studies have been done on pregnant women who have worn Scala Anti-Cellulite Shapewear. However, no particles penetrate the skin. The only thing that happens is that blood flow in the skin rises, along with a slight increase in skin temperature. This is comparable to massage, for instance, which also stimulates blood flow.

20. Can nursing mothers wear Scala underwear?

No studies have been done on nursing mothers who have worn Scala Anti-Cellulite Shapewear. None of our Shapewear garments cover the breasts and no particles penetrate the skin. The only thing that happens is that blood flow in the skin rises, along with a slight increase in skin temperature. This is comparable to massage, for instance, which also stimulates blood flow.

21. Why are there two product names – Scala Bio Fir and Scala Bio Promise?

The Scala range covers two product categories: Scala Bio Promise and Scala Bio Fir. Both versions have the patented Bio Fir function with integrated Bio-Crystals that stimulate the skin and improve blood flow (the actual prerequisite for the body to break down fat cells and excrete fluid pockets).

Scala Bio Promise products are part of Scala’s premium quality range. Scala Bio Promise products are genuine, seamless Shapewear and extremely comfortable to wear.

The differences between the products are:

Scala Bio Promise works to stimulate blood flow more and works faster, due to the heavier material.

Scala Bio Promise garments are seamless – they feel good on the body without chafing or cutting into the skin.

Scala Bio Promise garments are knitted of a heavier yarn, which makes them very durable.

Scala Bio Promise products are body-toning garments (Shapewear) that hold you in much more effectively than Scala Bio Fir garments.

Scala Bio Fir products are the same thickness as ordinary tights, so they are more vulnerable to sharp objects or fingernails. Scala Bio Fir products are not seamless.

Footnote: The somewhat vague reason there are two versions of the “same product” is partly due to the manufacturer’s strategy in various markets around the world, and partly because they are made in two different factories.

Orders placed before 16.00 on weekdays are sent the same day. In practice, this means you can expect to receive your order within 3 to 4 days.

28. Can I track my parcel?

Yes. After you place your order, you will receive additional information by e-mail, including a tracking number so that you can track your parcel.
